Compartmentalize the Junk Drawer

Steps

1. 01Empty the drawer onto a tray.
2. 02Throw away: dead pens, expired batteries, single screws, take-out menus older than a year.
3. 03Cut shoebox lids into rectangles to fit the drawer — five compartments at most.
4. 04Sort: pens, batteries, tape and string, small tools, cables.
5. 05Label the front of each compartment with a small piece of masking tape and a marker.
6. 06Re-evaluate yearly. Keep the cardboard until it falls apart.
