Polish Tarnished Silver With Foil and Soda
No silver polish, no rubbing. A chemistry trick that lifts tarnish in three minutes.
Steps
- 01Line a glass or ceramic dish with aluminum foil, shiny side up.
- 02Place tarnished silver pieces on the foil — they must touch the foil.
- 03Boil enough water to cover the silver. Pour over.
- 04Sprinkle in two tablespoons of baking soda per liter of water. It will bubble.
- 05Wait 3 to 5 minutes. The tarnish transfers from silver to foil.
- 06Lift out with tongs, rinse in cool water, dry with a soft cloth.
