The 60-Minute Pre-Visit Clean, In Order
Parents arrive in an hour. Don't try to clean every room. Clean the right rooms, in the right order.
Steps
- 01(0–10 min) Bathroom — they will use it. Wipe sink, mirror, toilet rim. New hand towel. One candle.
- 02(10–25 min) Kitchen — counters cleared, one cutting board out, dishes done or at least stacked in the dishwasher (closed).
- 03(25–40 min) Living room — the visible-surfaces sweep (see Organizing). Vacuum once.
- 04(40–50 min) Entryway — clear the chaos within 1m of the door. Coats on hooks, shoes on the tray, one bowl of keys.
- 05(50–58 min) Make sure the bedroom door is closed if you didn't get to it.
- 06(58–60 min) Wipe yourself down, change into something clean, light the kitchen candle. Open the door at 60.
