Force Paperwhites for Winter Flowers

Steps

1. 01Buy 5 paperwhite bulbs in early December.
2. 02Find a wide shallow bowl or jar. Fill with pebbles or marbles to 5cm depth.
3. 03Set bulbs on top, pointy-end up, packed close together — they look better in a tight cluster.
4. 04Add water just to the base of the bulbs, never higher.
5. 05Place in a bright, cool spot. Flowers in 3 to 4 weeks.
6. 06Stake with twine if they get tall and floppy — tie a single loop around all the stems together.
