Pressed Flower Cards for Mother's Day

The card you make beats the card you buy. Pick the flowers in early May; the cards are ready by the second weekend.

Steps

  1. 01Pick small flowers — pansies, daisies, forget-me-nots, single small leaves. Avoid thick blooms (roses, tulips).
  2. 02Layer flowers between two sheets of parchment paper, then between heavy books. Wait 5 to 7 days.
  3. 03Cut blank cardstock to A6 size, fold in half.
  4. 04Arrange pressed flowers on the front. A single bloom is plenty. Asymmetric is better than centered.
  5. 05Brush a thin layer of clear PVA glue on the back of each flower with a fine brush. Press into place.
  6. 06Let dry under a book overnight. Write inside in dark ink.
