A Paper Pansy Garland for the Equinox

Mark the spring equinox with a small craft that takes an evening and stays up for a month.

Steps

  1. 01Cut 24 pansy shapes from soft pastel cardstock — purple, yellow, white. Five rounded petals each, 6cm across.
  2. 02With a pencil, mark a small dot in the center of each.
  3. 03Use a craft knife to make two parallel slits 3cm apart on each flower, near the center.
  4. 04Thread a length of cotton twine through the slits, alternating colors.
  5. 05Hang above a doorway or window. The flowers spin slightly when the door opens — that's the point.
