An Acorn Garland for Autumn Harvest

Mark the autumn harvest with a craft that costs nothing and asks for one walk in a park.

Steps

  1. 01Collect 30 acorns on a fall walk. Pick ones with their caps still attached.
  2. 02Bake on a tray at 100°C for 1 hour to kill any insects. Cool completely.
  3. 03With a small hand drill or thick needle, make a hole through each acorn cap.
  4. 04Thread cotton twine through, knotting on either side of each acorn to space them 4cm apart.
  5. 05Hang along a mantel or window frame. The garland lasts years if kept dry.
